Our Story

We’re Seth and Mica Nitschke, family ranchers in Central California. We founded Mariposa Ranch, formerly Open Space Meats, in 2006 after Seth had spent many years in the conventional cattle business. After a time spent on a small grass-fed beef farm in Western Australia, Seth decided to bring the cattle care and harvesting methods to the United States.

At Mariposa Ranch, we work with great respect for the environment and with the cattle in our care. We never use hormones, antibiotics or feed grains to our cattle. We don’t use herbicides, pesticides or commercial fertilizers on our pastures. All of our cattle are 100% Pasture Raised, Pasture Finished, Grass Fed Beef from California!
